Land Based - Traction kiting and static kiting. 

Safety - before you start
- Ensure you are in possession of third party Power Kite Sport Federation insurance.
- Respect and obey any prohibition or advice notices posted.
- Be aware of the conservation guidelines.
- Learn to fly your kite in light winds until you are competent.
- Seek expert advice on any aspect of power kiting that you are unsure of.
- Always read and understand manufacturer’s instructions and abide by all safety warnings and flying tips.
- Check all your equipment regularly e.g. kites, lines, harnesses, handles etc
- Use appropriate safety equipment such as helmet, “kite killers” and quick release devices.
- Complete a full site assessment before flying – this involves looking for potential hazards in the area that you are flying in.
- Always ensure you have access to emergency services. Safety – while kiting
- DO NOT fly in busy or congested areas - move to a quieter spot.
- DO NOT kite within 15m of any person, and at no time give them reason to duck or show concern in relation to your actions.
- Passing the public must be done at reduced and controlled speed.
- Ensure at least 15m space is given, and warn of intending approach.
- Approach the public on the downwind side to keep your kite lines and buggy / land board away from them.
- When approaching another rider head on, turn right.
- Check for other beach users whilst turning and before freestyle moves.
- Give kite surfers plenty of room when they are launching and landing
- Have a plan of action for any event that could occur requiring evasive action, ie gear failure, wind gust, or approaching obstacle or person.
- Be mindful and courteous to all other beach users, respect the public has rights to enjoy the beach as much as we do.
- Keep well away from horses, they are easily scared which could cause dangerous situations.
